Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens
Teaching wellness skills to teens sets the foundation for a happy and healthy generation of adults. I am proud to be a teen mindfulness instructor under the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T) program delivered by Stressed Teens.
MBSR-T is an innovative research-based program that provides teens with tools to reduce stress and increase their quality of life. The program also allows teens to connect with one another and help them see that they are not alone in their challenges.
The program is most commonly delivered as a series of weekly meetings with teens whether in schools, community centres or wellness-oriented businesses, and topics covered include but are not limited to:

- Identifying stressors in daily life and their impact
- How to cultivate present moment awareness and other mindful qualities
- Cultivating self-care
- Formal practices such as body scanning, seated meditation, mindful walking and mindful movement
- Informal practices for daily life such as mindful eating, mindful homework and mindful test-taking
- Mindful strategies for improving awareness, attention and behaviours
- Positive coping skills
- Building mindful relationships
- Building a sustainable personal mindfulness practice
